The race is run on gravel for the first few kilometres to White Clay. Here you embark on the most stimulating and scenic roller-coaster anywhere in South Africa and possibly beyond. Run or walk along goat paths with the Indian Ocean lapping on the magnificent shoreline mere metres below until the sight of Hole-in-the-Wall beckons yonder. The gravel roads take you to the turning point with the ‘Hole’ itself in perfect view in all its amazing splendour. The run back to White Clay is on good gravel roads with coastal hills to keep you inspired.
