A beach run is always a demanding amalgam of sand, rock and sea. Starting at Swartvlei Beach you run past Gericke’s Point, the rocky landmark resembling a lion’s head. There are rock shelves with the warm Benguela current on your left and the fossilised sandstone dunes towering above you on your right. The route takes you past Kleinkranz Village and a mid-run refreshment stop. From Flat Rock there are still a few more kilometres of sand running before you reach the finish line.
