EDITORS NOTES
The PwC George Claassen 10 kilometre has been consistently ranked in a number of our surveys as a well organised and well presented event. Walkers may participate in any of the three distances, provided they finish within the time limit. There are various starting times, the half marathon walk starts at 05h30 and the five kilometre fun run starts at 06h30. The time limit for the 10 kilometre race is 01:30. The best water point wins a prize, so you can expect a lot of music, colour and good service along the route.
This race is named after George Claassen who was the chairman of the organising club from 1974 to 1985. He won the Comrades Marathon in 1961 at age 44. George was the father of Wynand Claassen, the Springbok rugby captain.
