The course is run through the bushveld, making its way across the Selati River before turning at the Water Board Gate near the Olifants River. Elephant and other game are often seen along the last few kilometres before the turning point. In the interests of runner safety, game patrols take place during the race. The half marathon turns at the Foskor Clinic, and the 10-kilometre race continues past the 7-kilometre mark back to the clubhouse. The marathon is a Comrades qualifier.
