This beautiful race first runs through Simon’s Town on the coastal road for about three kilometres before turning westwards towards Red Hill. Brace yourself for a climb that is usually reserved for Cycle Tour cyclists. The hill is about five kilometres long and will test both the body and the mind. There are breathtaking views of False Bay from here. Take your time; this is the Cape at its finest.
The three kilometre run down the other side is a welcome relief as you head down to the Atlantic coast. Enjoy this most stunning part of the peninsula, fairly flat running for about nine kilometres along the road bordering the Cape Point Nature Reserve. At the entrance to the park the route takes a northward turn and drops to sea level for around four kilometres. The last six kilometres are fairly flat, but include a nasty but very slight climb at the 28-kilometre marker back into the finish in Simon’s Town.
