Walkers are welcome and must finish within the time limit. This race is held together with the At Smit 10 kilometre Memorial Race. The five kilometre races starts at 06h45. This race honours Jackie Mekler, one of South Africa’s great distance athletes. He won the Comrades Marathon five times in 1958, 1960, 1963, 1964 and 1968.
