The marathon is two laps of the half. This is a moderate, undulating and scenic route that takes in the Bluff from the sea to the oil refinery. From Smith Drive the race follows Lighthouse Road into Marine Drive towards Anstey’s Beach.

From here you climb up to the refinery, run along Badulla Drive, and then turn right into Tara Road where the route flattens for about six kilometres to the Pick n Pay. The weather is usually warm so it is wise to keep hydrated. In the last quarter of the race there is a long uphill pull to the water tower and, finally, a welcome respite as you dash down Bluff Road to the finish.

A small fee may be charged for the use of the swimming pool.
