The race starts at the church in Keiskamma Street and first goes in the direction of the Vaal River. The opening few kilometres are fairly flat and easy as you run towards the river through the Vaalpark residential area. The next nine kilometres or so are run through the Wonderwater strip mining section on sand road. The going is fairly demanding but the added interest of running through a game reserve proves distracting. With some luck you should spot a number of bird and antelope species. The journey to the finish is fairly challenging as you grind your way back to the church.
