The route starts in Jan Smuts Avenue and proceeds uphill towards Randburg. From the Jan Smuts hill take a right into Republic Road, where there is a pleasant descent of two kilometres before turning onto the William Nicol Highway. The second water point is just over 3.5 kilometres from the start. Immediately after the spruit you turn into St Andrews for another flat stretch.
The halfway mark comes just before you negotiate a few tight corners around Cordor Avenue and Iona Drive. There is work to be done as you climb Arbroath Avenue as you reach the eight-kilometre marker and a welcome watering table. There is almost a kilometre of straight, uninterrupted running to the penultimate marker board. After the turn into Garden Road start climbing again at the nine-kilometre mark. The run in is along Jan Smuts Avenue with a quick hop, skip and a jump into the Old Parktonian Grounds. The finish is along the eastern side of the field at the soccer halfway line.
