OUTSURANCE GUN RUN HALF MARATHON

THE RUN

Starting outside the Cape Town Stadium this picturesque route takes you around the Mouille Point lighthouse along the promenade to the V&A Waterfront. The route goes through the Waterfront on the fan walk into Sea Point. Now with Clifton and Camps Bay on your mind you take Kloof Road out onto Africa’s most beautiful seaboard. The return journey is hosted by Victoria Road as you run through Clifton and Bantry Bay and then onward along the promenade to the finish opposite the Winchester Mansions Hotel.

The shorter 10 kilometre route takes you along Beach Road into Sea Point and on to the V&A Waterfront. The return trip is via the Green Point Traffic Department and the KFM Studios.

EDITORS NOTES

The OUTsurance 94.5KFM Gun Run has been consistently ranked in a number of our surveys as a well organised and well presented event. The race is one of the largest half marathons in South Africa. It attracts a high percentage of novice unlicenced runners who take part in what is as much a social event as it is a sporting contest to beat the gun.

Until recently, this used to be the Noon Gun on Signal Hill. For logistic and traffic reasons the race has been moved to an early start and the Cape Field Artillery fires a start and time limit signal right next to the start and finish lines.
