THE RUN
The half marathon route is essentially two laps of the shorter 10 kilometre route. It is laid out as a safe and interesting run through the leafy suburbs of Saxonwold and Forest Town. There are some fairly deceptive hills and the run up into Forest Town is challenging. The last few kilometres back to the Zoo are easy, fast and downhill.

There is a separate paraplegic and walkers' race. This race has moved to the Zoo, which is a welcome development. The organisers honour Gerald Fox, a popular member of their club and a dear personal friend, who was a victim of violent crime. This event has consistently maintained high standards of organisation, regardless of route or venue. Entry to the Johannesburg Zoo on race day is free for participants.
