Justice League Virtual Run Series #JLRunSeries20 #VirtualHeroes20

Is it a BIRD? is it a PLANE? It’s SUPERMAN!

Super Heroes were introduced to the world via comic books 80 years ago. Then followed short movies (series) on TV, and as little as 15 years ago Super Heroes hit the Big Screens and hit it Big Time.

It is now time that our DC Super Heroes infiltrate the Health and Fitness and Lifestyle markets to get ‘Gotham’ Running. Mass participation, virtual runs/walks are launching around the country featuring the main DC Super Heroes, under their Super Group - The Justice League.

The Justice League Run/Walk series is the official and only series of Warner Bros and DC comics in South Africa and Africa.  The events are produced by Sportsvendo, the same company who brought the unprecedented successful, The Color Run to South Africa.

Because of the lockdown, our scheduled Justice League Run/Walk Series has been put on hold but has now exploded into virtual runs that will include the entire South Africa and beyond. “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade BUT also plant some lemon trees.” The Frontline Workers of this country did just that! They never stopped working, placing their own lives in danger to save others, fighting the 'Viral Villain' while the rest of the country went into lockdown. They are the Heroes of the World during this current crisis, and we want to applaud and pay tribute to them through various actions with our DC Super Heroes “Virtual Runs”.

Every month from July to November, South Africans will be united in running and walking from their homes in the first-ever Super Hero Virtual Runs. Starting appropriately with the “Superman Run” and then each following month another Super Hero will take the lead. Linking with Wonder Woman in August, celebrating Woman’s Day. Then follows Aquaman, Batman and the series will finish off with the Flash and the Flash Dash.

In only a few weeks, during the Superman Run/Walk, people in all the towns and cities in South Africa will emerge from their homes as one and take to the streets wearing their Superman T-shirts. Although keeping social distancing, the participants will be prominent – a sight that has never been seen before in the country, honouring the Frontline Workers and for the benefit of those in need. As an additional precaution we have limited the entries for the first Virtual Run/Walk, Superman Run, to 20 000 nationwide. This was done as we realise that there will be an unprecedented response and our first priority is to ensure that all our Super Heroes are safe, and following social distancing protocols, during this Run/Walk for good and to ensure that each participant receive their Super Hero Kit.

We are also partnering with institutions and making financial contributions to beneficiaries such as Headstart Kids (providing food packs to kids), more organisations to benefit will be announced later. Therefore, not only will this series commemorate our Super Hero Frontline Workers, but relief will be given to people in need and who are suffering because of the current crises.

Super Hero Kits (themed to the respective Super Hero per run) will be couriered to all the entrants containing (using the first run as an example):

  • Collector’s Edition Superman Medal
  • Limited Edition Superman T-shirt
  • Limited Edition Superman Button Badge
  • Exclusive:  with the first event in the series, Superman Run, all registered participants will also receive the Special Edition Frontline Workers Honourees Button Badge to show their support to those very heroes.

A special personalised certificate will be issued to those entering all 5 runs SIMULTANEOUSLY.

The 2020 Justice League Virtual Run Series will take place as follows:

Sunday, 19 July: Superman Run (Entries capped at 20 000 Nationwide)

Sunday, 9 August: Wonder Woman Run

Sunday, 6 September: Aquaman Run

Sunday, 4 October: Batman Run

Sunday, 8 November: Flash Run

Our celebrity Super Heroes,  Letshego Zulu, Nicole Capper, Kagiso Sebediela and LeAnne Dlamini, will make sure our eyes are bright with anticipation, and our brows have the lightest trickle of sweat as they will take South Africa through some crazy fun warm-up routines before each virtual run, and we all sing and dance along even while apart.

After these Virtual Runs and when the lockdown is something of the past, the entire South Africa will get the opportunity to participate in the actual “venue based” events that will take place in the major South African cities.
