Both the longer 20 kilometre and shorter 10 kilometre routes go into the Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve. The going is rugged and the courses quite technical as you drop down into the valley below. For the longer run there are "the concrete strips” to contend with, a tough climb that will prove a test in anyone’s language. The five kilometre fun run is a good introduction to trail running and is not too demanding.
