LAMMERGEYER MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE
THE RUN
The first four kilometres are slightly downhill as you run through Lady Grey. This is a mountain race and the route follows the old ‘Lesotho trekpad’ to the highest point near the 10-kilometre mark. This is 2,400 metres above sea level. From there the path leads to the top of the third highest mountain pass in South Africa, the Joubert’s Pass. There is some running on a gravel road for about two kilometres before turning left onto a single footpath that leads to the 20-kilometre mark and a steep descent back into town and to the finish at the Lady Grey Country Club.
