Pre-entries close about two weeks before the event. Number collection are accepted at the Oudtshoorn Military Base Sport Clubhouse on the on the Friday before the race between 15h00 and 22h00. No late entries will be accepted.

THE RUN

A look at the profile tells a simple story; this race is easy. The marathon route starts with a fast downhill charge followed by a testing climb for about eight or nine kilometres. From here, the race takes on a relaxed, relatively effortless complexion. This is arguably the most undemanding Two Oceans and Comrades qualifier and ideal for setting a PB, so a journey to Oudtshoorn will certainly be worth it. The run to the Cango caves is nothing short of spectacular. The start of the half marathon is in Park Road, opposite the Advanced Training Wing, the old Teachers' Training College.

Transport to the marathon start leaves the Infantry School Parade Ground between 04h30 and 05h30.

EDITORS NOTES

The Infantry School Cango Marathon is the oldest and second-biggest marathon in the SWD and is attended by nearly 1,000 athletes each year. This event is also considered one of the 10 best races to qualify for the Comrades and Two Oceans Marathon. This is the only marathon before the Two Oceans Marathon in the SWD. Walkers are welcome to enter the half marathon.

The five kilometre fun run is held the Friday evening before the main races starting at 18h00 from the Military Sport Clubhouse in Oudtshoorn. Make sure to round off the run with an ostrich steak which is said to have great medicinal properties for post-race recovery. This is one of the most understated races in South Africa. The half marathon run has a 03:00 time limit. The half marathon walk has a 04:00 time limit.
