This is a challenging race with breathtaking views and scenery. Extremely popular with runners, the route first meanders through the suburbs of Newlands and Rondebosch. There are 23 well-known landmarks along the route, such as Rondebosch Common, Mostert's Mill at six kilometres and the UCT grounds at about nine kilometres. The most fearsome climb to the turning point takes you to the Rhodes Memorial, the highest point of the race. There is the picturesque Newlands Forest at about 12 kilometres and the famous Newlands Rugby and Cricket Ground at 18 kilometres. The final stretch of this most interesting race is flat, easy and pleasant.
PRIZES AND GIVE-AWAYS
Gold medals go to the first three finishers, the next 40 finishers get silver and all other finishers within in the time limit get bronze. The King and Queen of the mountain get special prizes. There are lots of lucky draw prizes. This is a permanent number award race.
