ASICS renews partnership with the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon


Partnership extended for a further 3 years with Africa's only IAAF Gold Label Marathon



ASICS South Africa is proud to announce that we have extended our partnership as the Official Technical Apparel and Footwear Partner of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon for a further 3 years.


The extension will see ASICS' involvement stretch over a total period of six years. The race was recently awarded IAAF Gold Label Status for a road race and is the first and only African marathon to reach this prestigious achievement.


To achieve gold, a host of requirements ranging from the event’s attractiveness (history and heritage of the race, city, country and continent); event marketing; athlete line-up (number of participants, elite field, prize money, equality and safety) together with technical issues including official times and results, route measurements, water stations, road closures, medical and doping requirements, amongst other, need to be complied with.


A stringent process, requiring a new application each year, ‘going for gold’ has been one of the marathon’s key goals since its relaunch in 2014.


As a race that is set in one of the most scenic cities on earth, and aligned with passion, hard work and attention to detail by the race organisers, it is the ideal race for ASICS, as one of the most respected running brands in the world, to be involved with.
